The Gujo Odori dance, which has been performed in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture for 420 years, is a traditional dance that continues all night long. These sandals are made using a "one-piece" construction method, where the teeth are carved from a single block of wood, resulting in a seamless design. To enhance the beauty of the yukata (summer kimono) worn during the dance, the soles are set at a slightly higher 50mm. The soles are made of cypress wood for durability and a pleasant sound. The thongs feature KIMONO ARCH's original "stardust" fabric, a white background with a stardust pattern, offering an elegant and smooth feel. The front thong and the underside of the thongs are finished in black, creating a refined and polished look. The soles are fitted with Vibram rubber, providing excellent grip. Material Made in Arimatsu and Narumi, the heartland of shibori, this yukata preserves traditional techniques. The textured surface reduces contact with the skin, keeping it light and comfortable to wear. Enjoy the soft feel of 100% cotton. In the shibori process, the “binding” step is sometimes performed in Cambodia. As successors for this step in Japan become fewer, Japanese artisans are passing on the technique overseas to ensure the tradition of Arimatsu-Narumi shibori continues. Design This yukata features a special stripe pattern that incorporates every shibori technique possible in Cambodia. Each stripe is uniquely tied using one of three methods: hitome shibori, yotsumaki shibori, or nui shibori. The vertical stripes create a subtle elongating effect, while the beach-inspired colors offer a natural, playful, and sophisticated look. Instead of mulberry, it is made from home-grown Broussonetia kazinoki, and the long fibers intertwine to make it thin yet strong. The thin Japanese paper, also used for shoji, allows soft light to pass through, enhancing the inherent beauty of the material. The ruffles are crafted from KIMONO ARCH's original kimono fabric, using the small offcuts that inevitably remain after sewing. They reflect our desire not to waste a single piece of the precious fabric we create together The ruffles flutter gently with every step and every blow of the wind, it makes you incredibly excited. As the ruffles are derived from Western clothing, they go great with dresses and pants. When layered over a straight-silhouette kimono, they create a gentle, rounded shape and a softer impression. Made with silk threads of varying thicknesses and Japanese paper, this woven obi has a rustic, textured feel. By combining randomly kasuri-dyed threads, we’ve emphasized the cute, plump texture of the yarn. ・One side features a plump, textured appearance ・The other side is flat and sleek This obi is reversible, allowing you to enjoy both sides.
