While Kurume kasuri is typically used for autumn and winter cotton kimonos, we achieved a “Kurume kasuri yukata” by weaving with extra-fine threads of the same thickness as those usually used for yukata. The aurora-like gradient is created using six colors for the warp threads, a rare design in Kurume kasuri where solid-colored threads are standard. Across the 13-meter length of fabric, no two sections are identical—making each piece uniquely special. We named it “aurora” to capture the feeling of your own magical moment. Though the fabric is lightweight, it is not as sheer as typical summer kimonos. You can wear it as a yukata in midsummer or layer it with outerwear and innerwear for year-round use.
