長井紬は山形県置賜地方の北側、長井市でつくられている紬です。
最上川発祥の地と呼ばれている山形県長井市で織られる「長井紬」。日本列島の一番北の地域でつくられる「絣」のきもので、国の伝統工芸品に指定されています。もったいないから…と保管されていた行き場のない紬糸たちを、ランダムに並べて絣染めを施し、織り上げました。やさしいグレーの中にカラフルな糸が見える、とっておきの生地感です。
手作りの温かさを感じる先染めの糸で織られた柄と、絹ならではの艶やかな風合いが唯一無二のきもの。単衣（ひとえ）仕立て付きですので、インナーやアウター次第で盛夏以外の３シーズンご着用いただけます。

Nagai Tsumugi is a type of pongee silk woven in Nagai City, located in the northern part of the Okitama region of Yamagata Prefecture.

“Nagai Tsumugi” is woven in Nagai City, Yamagata, known as the birthplace of the Mogami River. It is a kasuri-patterned kimono textile produced in the northernmost region of Japan, and is designated as a traditional craft of Japan.
Silk yarn that had been stored away with no destination, kept simply because it felt too precious to discard, was gathered together, randomly arranged, and dyed using the kasuri technique before being woven into fabric. The result is a special textile where colorful threads gently appear within a soft gray base.

The patterns are woven with pre-dyed yarn, giving a sense of handcrafted warmth, while the natural luster of silk adds elegance. This one-of-a-kind kimono comes with unlined (hitoe) tailoring, allowing it to be worn for three seasons other than midsummer, depending on how it is styled with inner or outer layers.
