“cycle series”は、さんち（産地）に半端に残った糸＝「残糸」を再利用して展開しているシリーズ。今回は、石がコロコロと転がる様子を連想させるシブヤフォント*²のデザインデータを、立体的なタオル生地で表現し、今にも動き出しそうな表情に仕上げました。
思いがけない出会いから生まれる、唯一無二の表情が魅力のcycle series。偶然性や躍動感が重なり合い生まれた、心躍る羽織です。

渋谷でくらし・はたらく障がいのある方が描いた原画をもとに、桑沢デザイン研究所の学生がフォントやパターンとして制作し、企業や個人に提供するパブリックデータサービス。その利用料の一部が障がい者支援事業所に還元される仕組みです。
株式会社やまとでは、2023年1月よりシブヤフォントを活用した手ぬぐいを製作・販売。
現在もKIMONO ARCHでは、継続的な取り組みとしてシブヤフォントを活用したものづくりを続けています。

The “cycle series” is a collection developed using leftover yarns, known as zanshi, that remain in small quantities at textile production areas.
For this piece, design data from Shibuya Font*², inspired by the image of stones gently rolling along, is expressed through three-dimensional towel fabric, creating a lively surface that feels as if it might begin moving at any moment.

The charm of the cycle series lies in its one-of-a-kind expressions born from unexpected encounters.
This haori brings together elements of chance and movement, resulting in a piece that feels vibrant and uplifting.
