米富繊維と製作した、伝統的なフェアアイル*¹ニットを思わせる、アウターとしても着用できる羽織。
フェアアイルの特徴である多色使いを、一本の糸を多色に染め分けた糸を含む、5種類の糸で表現しました。糸の重なりや色の変化が生み出すカラフルな表情は、島の長く暗い冬を明るく彩るために生まれたとも言われています。
細やかな柄ゆえ、帽子やミトンなどの小物に用いられることが多いフェアアイルニットですが、今回はアームウォーマーとレッグウォーマーの兼用アイテムも展開します。
かつてフェアアイルニットは、家族のために編まれる「暮らしの中の手仕事」であり、その編み方や色使いには、家族の“物語”や“思い出”が込められています。

Fair Isle-Inspired Knit Haori – Collaboration with Yonetomi Fibers

This haori, crafted in collaboration with Yonetomi Fibers, evokes the charm of traditional Fair Isle*¹ knits while being substantial enough to wear as an outer layer. The characteristic multi-color effect of Fair Isle is expressed using five different yarns, including a yarn dyed in multiple colors along its length. The overlapping threads and color transitions create a vibrant, colorful appearance, historically designed to brighten the long, dark winters of the Shetland Islands.

Due to its detailed patterns, Fair Isle knitting is often used for hats, mittens, and other small items. For this collection, we also offer pieces that can serve as both arm warmers and leg warmers, expanding the versatility of the design.

Historically, Fair Isle knits were a form of “handmade craft in daily life” for families, and the knitting patterns and color combinations often carry the family’s stories and memories.
